The North and South

Anyone who knew me back in high school would remember that I was a total John Jakes, "North and South" mini-series FANATIC. Every day at school we would dissect the episode from the night before. I swooned over Patrick Swayze and Monica swooned over the curly dark-haired guy (I can't remember his name right now). I even posted pictures from the tv guide in my locker at school.

I'm reliving a little bit of my 80s past today with disc 1 of the mini-series, thanks to my brother, Mike and his Netflix subscription. I had no idea he was a fan too! I guess I made him watch it with me back then so he developed an appreciation for the show. Bring on Orrie Main, Madeline, her evil husband (David Carradine), the evil Bent, and the rest of the gang. I think I'll sit back, make a faux mint julep, and enjoy the show.

I wonder if Netflix also has my other 80s mini-series, "V"? That will be my next movie request.

I love the 80s!

Netflix is a great way to rewatch old favorite TV series. Just off the top of my head I've been able to catch old espisodes of M*A*S*H, Airwolf, ALF and quite a few others.

As far as watching V though... It depends. Do you want The Original Miniseries, The TV series, or the follow-on Final Battle?

oh my--blast from the past.....

That, and Cynical Man, Kat's newspaper, romance novels sans covers (thanks to her mom) and sitting in the entrance hall at lunch. Oh, and of course, Mr. Black. You never know when you are going to need a pythagoream theorem.

How is Monica doing? If you are in touch, tell her I send my regards.

Am working insanely late (it is almost midnight here) but wanted to "drop by" and say hi. I got you some cool scarves and other little trinkets--will try to escape from the office long enough to get them in the mail to you!

Gila - you have a good memory!

North & South - that is a real 80s blast from the past - Genie Francis and others all skinny and still had their looks.
